About the Artist

LaSalle artist, Colleen Castonguay grew up in Windsor, Ontario with a passion and love for art from early childhood. Her ability is to see the beauty surrounding her. Through her art she captures that beauty in a way that commands the viewer to pause and appreciate the intricacy of our physical world. Colleen sees our physical world as a wonderful gift from God and recognizes the gift given to her.

Sharing her gift and love of art with others through teaching is what really inspires her. Colleen has been teaching professionally for more than twenty five years.

“Art is capable of engaging & enriching the spirit of people & has value beyond our understanding. It is able to bring out a sense of appreciation, joy & freedom that is often suppressed from childhood.”

Colleen works in acrylic and oil but her true love is the delicate, spontaneous nature of watercolour. She is a certified Bob Ross Instructor, conducting half day oil painting workshops in landscape, wildlife and floral as well as weekly watercolour, acrylic and drawing classes. Colleen has developed a Home School Art Program for the Essex County area and is also a professional framer by trade.

Her works are part of many private collections across Canada and the US. Commissioned works such as portraits are considered on an individual basis.  Colleen works out of her home studio and presently has the pleasure of teaching art to both children and adults in Windsor and LaSalle Ontario. Workshops are also held spring and fall in North Bay, Ontario and winter in Brunswick, Georgia.

Colleen is currently an executive member of the Association of Representational Artists (2004-present), The Consolidated Group of 7’s (2009-present) and the Northern Ontario Art Association (2010 – present). Her work may be obtained directly from the artist or though King’s Framing and Art Gallery of Corbeil Ontario.
